BUILDING A UGC PORTFOLIO

Whether you’re new to UGC or you already have your website or portfolio up and running, these tips could help you perfect that portfolio, giving you the best chance to be selected and successful throughout your UGC journey.

Dos

Introduce yourself! Telling the brand a little bit about you, your interests, why you enjoy making content/what type of content you specialise in, can show personality and give them a brief overview of you as a person!

In this paragraph you could include what your content can do for this brand, allowing you to use this paragraph to tailor your portfolio to each brand and personalising it to them, without having to change every aspect of it. Remember! Keep it short & snappy.

Variety of content  ✅

Having a variety of content (examples being, talking to camera / testimonials / unboxing / routine) to show the variety of content you’re capable of & possibly one that you’re better at shooting, making it easier for the brand to know which videos they can allocate to you.

Testimonials or feedback

If you’re new to UGC, don’t worry about this one too much! It's not crucial but if you do have feedback from brands on previous content created - why not include it! Even if its feedback on the turnaround time of your content, this can reassure brands of your efficiency and values as a creator!

Keeping it accessible ✅

Everyone is on the go these days, so making sure your portfolio is available in mobile view, will make sure that its of ease for everyone to access. You don’t want to miss your chance to wow them!

Don’ts

Explain what UGC is ❌

You do not need to explain what UGC is in your portfolio, this is time for you to sell yourself and your potential - not to explain this!

Quick snappy - not too much text ❌

The quality of content & the aesthetics of your portfolio will tell the brand more than a load of unnecessary text! They don’t need to hear how good you are, they need to see it!

Out of date content ❌

If you’ve relocated, moved flats or only do content on holiday you need to update your portfolio to your current environment, we would suggest updating your content on your portfolio every 2-3 months.

Pricing

Avoid making your portfolio overly complicated in any way! The only pricing options you need in your portfolio are 1,2,3 videos, a few imagery options and a few separate hooks. If a brand wants more content you can discuss that further down the line!

Don’t forget a CTA ❌

When it comes to the end of your portfolio you need to give those viewing an option of where to contact you! This is a super common mistake that you do not want to make! Make sure you have the option of an email address, your social media links & even a phone number if you feel comfortable doing so!

We know how busy creators are, so we have a portfolio template that you can download on our website right now! Use this blog as a checklist when you’ve finished your portfolio!
